Bill McCrea

Bill graduated from the University of Illinois in Champagin/Urbana in 1990 with a BA Degree in Economics and a Business Minor. He worked in the telecommunications industry and the Computer/Technology industry for the first 10 years of his career. He spent significant time living in Chicago and Phoenix prior to his move to Overland Park in July 2009. 

Bill began his career in Financial Services in 2001 with UBS Financial Services in their Financial Advisor training program. After 3 years of service there, he made a move to AIG Valic and worked with K-12 education employees, local municipality workers, and employees of hospitals. While there, he educated the employees on their retirement plans offered to them and how to save and plan for their future. Bill made the move to Charles Schwab in 2006 where he spent 18 years as a Financial Consultant. He worked with a large practice of clients to help with their financial planning, asset management, retirement planning, and insurance needs as their trusted advisor. After 3 years at Schwab in Phoenix, Bill moved to Kansas City for family reasons and started to work in the Overland Park/Leawood Branch. This is where he spent 15 years developing relationships with his clients and helping them with any of their needs. After a long tenure working for a large Broker/Dealer, Bill decided to take his practice to an Independent model where he could focus on his clients more and care to their needs on a deeper, personal level.

Bill joined Convergence in 2024 with a long track record of knowledge and experience. He forms long lasting relationships with his clients who value his commitment to acting in their best interest, and he will continue to serve clients with the same care he has for his whole career.

Outside of the office, Bill spends time with his family doing whatever activities his kids are into at that time. His wife, Julie, is a Registered Nurse at a local Pediatrics doctor’s office, and they have 3 children. Maggie will be attending University of Oklahoma this fall as a Freshman, and their sons Keegan and Bennett are in 6th and 3rd grade. Bill is an avid golfer and tries to be at the golf course when there is time available to him.
